More Hurricane Prep

As the storm gets closer it seems that people are taking it more seriously.  I am glad that I started my hurricane prep earlier this week - the gas lines today are outrageous!  Hubby has to take his car for gas still, so I'm hoping the gauging hasn't begun yet.

Anyway, I've been stalking some internet feeds and I came up with a few additional things that people can do to get ready for the storm.

  • Lower the temperature in your fridge and freezer 24 hours in advance of the storm.  This will get things extra cold and hopefully make your perishables last just a little bit longer.
  • Put some empty buckets (with rocks in the bottom) outside to collect rainwater.  It's not safe for drinking or cooking, but you can flush the toilet with it.
